MixMode’s CTO and Chief Scientist, Dr. Igor Mezic, discusses the challenges of rules-based cybersecurity systems. He focuses on the workflow issues for security analysts that operate in first and second-wave AI (rules-based) cybersecurity tools.

“The most vexing limit is that you have to write more and more of them as more and more situations that are dangerous, present themselves,” Dr. Mezic says. “And of course with the utilization of AI on the attack side, on the hacking side, this is becoming exponentially large. Having a workforce that is going to be writing the rules for an exponentially increasing attack envelope is not something that is feasible. It’s simply infeasible.”
